Meeting of francophone publishers

Wednesday 29th April and Thursday 30th April

Over the years, the Geneva Book and Press Fair has emerged as one of the main venues for French-speaking publishers, thanks to its innovative programme and the participation of renowned francophone authors and professionals from around the world.

In 2003 it saw the launch of the ‘African Book Fair’ then, in 2012, the ‘Swiss Stage’, designed to showcase the vibrancy of the Swiss French-speaking literary scene and in 2014, the Arab Cultures and Literature Pavilion. Each spring the Fair also welcomes leading publishers from Quebec and Wallonia.

In 2015, the Geneva Book Fair intensifies its efforts to bring together different stakeholders through the organization of the first Francophone Publishing Forum. Over two days, on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th April, a series of round tables, one-to-one debates and keynote speeches will address issues related to the multiple dimensions of francophony, improving its publication and distribution channels, the role of the French language in the world as well as the development of digital publishing.

Through this new  initiative, the Geneva Book Fair wishes to encourage French-language publishing and reinforce the position of Geneva, a French-speaking city and a prominent centre for international cooperation, as a thought-leading hub of francophony.
